Marcus Jones is a senior studying Finance at Arizona State University. During his years at ASU he became a member of the Investment Banking Industry Scholars (IBIS) program, is on the executive board for Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, is the Co-Founder and Director of Finance for the Blockchain Innovation Society (BIS), is a member of the global Blockchain Education Network (BEN), and leads the business development team in The Luminosity Lab. In his career, he has nearly three years of business development and finance experience, ranging from an asset management firm to a blockchain payments company partnered with the Dash network.
Marcus is extremely passionate about startups, and has been able to use his academic and industry experience to continuously work on innovative projects throughout his years at ASU, with primary interests in fintech. He won the ASU Igniter Challenge competition, where he was awarded $55,000* of seed investment for his startup focused on peer to peer crowdfunding through point of sale round-ups. In addition, he is currently working on projects involving drones and machine learning within the research lab and assists in the ideation of new project proposals.
In his free time, he advises students on their early stage startups - from small ideas to product launch - where he shares his knowledge of building prototypes, teams and pitch decks, managing projects, raising capital and more. He enjoys reading, music, drawing, and makes sure to never take himself too seriously!
